Williamston Tree Council

The Williamston Tree Council (WTC) is a committee of the Friends of Williamston Parks and is composed of city of Williamston and area township residents who are interested in assisting the City of Williamston in enhancing our community’s tree canopy—to reap all the benefits that a healthy urban forest provides.

In 2025, with financial support from the Michigan Department of Natural Resource’s Urban and Community Forest program, the WTC established the City of Williamston’s tree nursery on the well property off Linn Road.

The trees that grow in the nursery will be planted in public locations in the City, primarily on street rights of way (the area between the sidewalk and the road). Interested residents will be invited to notify the City of their interest in a tree planted adjacent to their property.

All city and township residents interested in participating in enhancing our urban forest are encouraged to contact Jack Smith at jsmith@msu.edu or (517) 914-3927.
